ABSTRACT

Distortion product otoacoustic emission(DPOAE) is emission evoked by two stimultaneous primary tones and frequency-specific about the cochlear micromechanical aspects. The pure tone threshold and DPOAEs were recorded from 94 ears of 53 patients with high frequency hearing loss with or without tinnitus and the relationship between DPOAE and pure tone threshold was observed. The results were as follows : 1) The DP amplitudes in normal hearing level in terms of hearing level 1KHz, shows 5-25dB in all cases. 2) As the pure tone threshold increases, the DP amplitudes were decreased(correlation coefficient=-0.74) and fall into noise level in pure tone threshold above 70dB. 3) There is no signficant difference in DP amplitude patterns between tinnitus group and no tinnitus group in high frequency hearing loss.
