Meniere's disease is a disorder of the membranous labyrinth that is characterized by vertigo, deafness, tinnitus and usually ear fullness without definitive cause. The prognosis and treatment of Meniere's disease have not been determined with precision. The purpose of this study is to seek the best modality of treatment by clinical and statistical analysis of 30 patients, diagnosed as Meniere's disease from January 1981 to June 1986. The results were as follows : 1) After medical treatment, control of vertigo occurred in 60%, hearing improved in 19%, tinnitus decreased in 53.8% and ear fullness diminished in 83.3%. 2) The duration of symptom in those patients who were recurred in vertigo is longer than that of controlled cases. 3) After endolymphatic sac surgery, control of vertigo occurred in 75%, hearing improved in 25% and tinnitus decresed in 57.1%. 4) Among medical and surgical treatment, endolymphatic sac surgery had a relatively good response in vertigo.
