ABSTRACT

Even with advent of chemotherapeutics, otogenic intracranical complications are most troublesome problems. Especially when administration of insufficient antimicrobial agents before set up concrete diagnosis, many private practitioners may exercise those measures unkonwingly, may alter the clinical and laboratory findings and disastrous delay in exploration and drainage of pus from the brain. Therefore it may be worthwhile to analyse 4 autopsy cases who died by otogenic intracranial complications at N.M.C. during last 4 years. Three cases were treated at out side with antibiotics before visit to our hospital and last case was surgically treated together with antibiotics at other hospital. However, one case died by cerebellar abscess. One case of purulent meningitis, and two cases of cerebral abscess are reported. Among 4 cases, 3 cases combined with lateral sinus thrombosis.
